It is a sunnah for the groom to seek for Allah's barakah after the akad nikah. The groom may kiss the bride on her forhead and make doa':

" Allahumma Inni Ass Aluka Khairroha Wa Khairromaa Jabal TaHaa A'laiHi Wa A'uzubika Min SharriHaa Wa Sharrimaa Jabal TaHaa A'laiHi. "
Oh Allah, I seek from You, the goodness of her and the goodness of her behaviours, and I seek protection from her badness and the badness of her behaviours. [Narrated by Abu Dawud]

One of the guidelines that newly married couples are required to do when they are ready to approach each other intimately is to seek doa or supplicate to Allah s.w.t. in the effort to keep Satan away from them and their offsprings, should their intercourse results in a conception. Recite:

" Bismillahi Allahumma Jannib Nash Syaiton Wa Jannibish Syaiton Maa Rozaqtanaa "
In the Name of Allah. Oh Allah keep Satan away from us, and keep him away from what You grant us. [Narrated by Ibn Abbas]

When visiting the bride and the groom during their walimah, what should we do? The best thing to do is to make doa' for them:

" Baarakallahhu Laka Wabaaraka a'laikk, Wajamaa' Bainakumaa Fi Khhairr. "
May Allah bless you, and may Allah showers His blessings upon you and that He unites you in goodness. [Narrated by Abu Dawud]
